Welcome to Scuttle. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the Scuttle mobile application (the “App”), website, or any of our related services. This policy complies with applicable U.S. laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
By using Scuttle, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
a. Information You Provide Directly
Identifiers: name (optional), email address, and password
Profile data: pet names, photos, breed information, and other content you choose to upload
Communications: messages, comments, and customer support inquiries
b. Information Collected Automatically
Device data: device type, operating system, time zone, language, IP address, and device identifier
Usage data: interactions with the app, such as features used, screen visits, and session length
Crash and diagnostic data: error logs, crash reports, and technical performance data
Push notification tokens: anonymous identifiers used to deliver device-specific notifications
We do not collect sensitive personal information (as defined under CPRA), biometric data, precise geolocation, or financial information.
2. Purpose of Collection
We use the collected data for the following purposes:
To provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features
To personalize user experience based on preferences and activity
To send push notifications, reminders, and feature updates (with opt-in consent)
To analyze usage and performance, fix bugs, and improve the App
To communicate with users and respond to support inquiries
To comply with legal obligations or enforce our Terms of Service
3. Sharing of Personal Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
We may share your data only under the following conditions:
a. With Service Providers
We use trusted third-party vendors for cloud hosting, analytics, crash monitoring, and notifications. These vendors are contractually required to use your data only as needed to perform services for us.
b. Legal or Regulatory Requirements
We may disclose personal information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or legal process.
c. Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred to the successor entity. You will be notified of any such change.
4. Your Privacy Rights (California Residents)
If you reside in California, you have the following rights under the CCPA/CPRA:
Right to Know: You may request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months.
Right to Delete: You may request that we delete personal information we have collected about you, subject to legal exceptions.
Right to Correct: You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
Right to Opt-Out of Sharing: We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so no opt-out is needed.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not deny you services or charge different prices for exercising your privacy rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at leh@scuttle.pet with the subject line “California Privacy Request.” We will verify your identity before processing your request.
5. Retention of Data
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can request account deletion at any time.
6. Security
We implement technical, administrative, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, loss, or misuse. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children’s Privacy
Scuttle is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. Parents may contact us to review or delete their child’s data.
8. International Users
If you are located outside the United States, please note that your information will be processed and stored in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to this transfer and processing.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect legal requirements or changes in our practices. We will notify users of material changes via the App or email. The most current version will always be available at scuttle.pet/privacy.
